lyrics to plan "b": the mars song

written by james g. dashe and jim capobianco

We'll follow you to Mars
Or wherever you people go...

We rats are right there down below.

We’ve travelled near and far,
With swamis, geisha, thugs and czars
In planes and boats and submarines,
We’ve sailed from Liverpool to Queens.
We’re even in Qatar, or wherever you people go...
We all adore François Truffaut.

Abandon musophobia
And embrace a new utopia:

Butterflies and puppy dogs
Summer evenings, crispy frogs

Imagine if you will a world
Where women, rats
And men and children
Live in peace and harmony,
We’re even holding hands.

We’re dancing through the streets
And singing cabaret songs, ooh la la la
Join with us we’ll make a Human/ratty wonderland.

We’ll help you tie your shoes
When you don’t feel like bending over
And perhaps you’ll take that trap
From out behind the pantry door

We’ll say “Bonjour” and “How’s the family”
When we pass each other on the street
And just like that we won’t be strangers anymore.

So here we go to Mars
With our stories intertwined
And although once you tried to kill us
Now we know that you won’t mind

We’ll journey through the stars
And whatever else may be...

We all hate that lousy flea...
That lousy flea...

Hola Jim,
Beautiful piece you guys ended up with, that short film makes me remember the good old Disney shorts from the 50s and 60s.
Like "Toot Whistle Plunk and Boom"
Hopefully you´ll keep up the Classical stuff at Pixar, you did great!.
I´m doing a couple of classical pieces myself.

Jim,
Thanks for the comment on my blog! I'm very honored I must say. My brother's at LMU studying (2-D) animation right now so your comment has made him green with envy. I look forward to all your future projects; I'm sure they'll be just as "Tarantinoesque."
Best,
AJF

I'm not sure where to post that my sons were the very happy recipients tonight of the "Your Friend The Rat" Little Golden Book. Bravo!

juanma - thanks man. your comment means a lot. that's exactly what we were aiming for. good luck to you on your stuff. i'll check out your site.

ajf- one of my favorite mentions the short has gotten. right on for your bro that he is studying 2-D. we have to keep it alive.

danlevy- thanks for your comment. i love to hear that kids are enjoying the film or the book. it was such an honor to do a golden book.

toni- thanks a lot. it looks like you are in the animation biz and love what we love and know a good thing when you see it. I really appreciate your comment.

Wonderful work you and Mr. Dashe concocted, Jim. My sister and I now officially have the whole thing memorized and sing it sporadically. Reminds me of the good ol' days of Disney shorts...when they actually had some humor in them. Good ol' 2D....

Great job. You Pixar geniuses constantly amaze us.

mitch - thank you. we were aiming high on this one maybe we got close. those guys back then knew their stuff. do you guys sing the different parts?

I'd say you hit the nail straight into the board on this one. Those guys knew their stuff all right, but you should give yourselves a pat on the back all the same.

Ha-ha. Yeah, we usually sing all the lyrics harmoniously/at the same time. We do our best to hit the low notes, which proves quite difficult at times. (heheh)
