adventure and absurdity in making an animated short

Your Friend the Rat brings home an Annie!

What a great honor it is to win this beautiful award from ASIFA. I can't tell you what this means to me. The short is such a love letter to animation that I am so proud it was recognized by the animation community. I speak for the entire YFtR crew when I say.."Thank You". Oh, and Happy Year of The RAT!

CongRATulations on your team's very well-deserved victory.

Delightful, engaging, entertaining and informative ... "YFTR" is all that and more.

It's a shame it wasn't screened for Oscar consideration.

Anyway, just keep blowing audiences away with fantastic shorts and full-length features. The awards and peer recognition is great -- but so is the laughter and smiles from an audience.

Jim,

I just watched Ratatouille and Your Friend the Rat, and I loved them both. Excellent work, dude! Congratulations on the award. It was cool seeing you on the "First Day" segment, too.

Hey Jim!

We watched the short at Disney, and loved the heck out of it. You guys knocked our socks off. Great job!

As a guy who loved to hang around Ward Kimball's unit back in the fifties, I can tell you Ward would have loved your work.

Congratulations. Well deserved.

What??? Is this??? His blog???
Jim Capobianco's blog??? Really??'
But it says Leonardo at the top!

Ahhhh!!! It is!!! Great thing I stumbled upon your blog!

Congratulations on your award, I enjoy "Your friend the rat" a lot, there's always something new to see! Some cool design, great color compositions, its great!

Since there were a lot of different techniques involved, was the usual studio workflow affected?? How did it felt doing all those crafty indie procedures like the chalkboard scene?
